    Ruzen Atakan

    (Figurative, Woman, Printing, Collage)

Atakan, who has been working as an art teacher in Nicosia Anatolian Fine Arts High School for many years, contributes to art in Northern Cyprus not only as an artist but also as an educator who brings up artists. Equipped with the advantage of being an educator, Atakan is an artist who can constantly update herself and experience different techniques and materials. Examples of these qualities are exhibited through her work in the collection. One of the most important elements in Atakan's artistic work is women. Beyond the paintings in which the artist, who mostly works figuratively, only handles women, it is possible to see a woman's face even in crowded compositions. An important detail, these figures are modern women who are generally in comfortable positions, as free as possible and stylishly dressed. The colors and intonations used by Atakan are as soft and peaceful as the blows. As can be seen in the examples in the collection, the artist who practices collage and print-like techniques also refers to the political situation of the island and uses symbols to encourage the viewer to think.
